The EU General Data Protection Regulation
The EU GDPR came into effect on 25th May 2018.
It was put in place to ensure that data which is held about you is kept secure and safe to protect your confidentiality at all times.
What data do I keep?
I keep a base line data set, this includes your name, address, email address, landline and or your mobile number, emergency contact and GP surgery.
I write case notes, these and all of the above information are kept in a locked filing cabinet.
I will never disclose or share any of the above data without your express permission or unless subpoenaed, this is very unlikely, however for this reason I always keep client notes very short and factual.
I am obliged to keep your records on file for a period of 7 years after the last therapeutic session.
If you would like to view the data I hold on you please let me know and I will be happy to arrange this.
Deleting data
When data is no longer required (the legal storage period has expired) I destroy the data by shredding it.
By signing the GDPR agreement you agree that you have given me your personal data voluntarily and that you understand how I will look after any information you have passed to me.
