About me
Taking the first step into counselling can sometimes feel daunting. I aim to offer a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever feels important to you, at a pace that feels right for you.
My approach is person-centred, which means I believe you are the expert on your own experience. Our work together is guided by what you bring, with space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that feels meaningful to you.
Alongside my private practice, I work within the NHS as a renal counsellor, supporting people living with kidney disease and the emotional impact of long-term health conditions. I also have experience of supporting people who are caring for a loved one, and understand how illness, change and uncertainty can affect both individuals and families.
My wider experience includes sitting alongside people affected by dementia and stroke, as well as completing a counselling placement within a sixth form college, where I supported young people.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling from the University of Chichester and am a BACP Registered and Accredited Member. I am currently studying for an MA, where my research explores meaningful connections between counsellors and clients, and how these experiences may influence the counsellor’s understanding of themselves and their practice.
For me, counselling is about creating a genuine and trusting relationship where you can feel heard, understood and supported as you make sense of what is happening in your life.
I offer counselling in Portsmouth and Southsea.
